We are looking for team members who are passionate about delivering industry-leading experiences to our customers and supplying turn-key solutions for any Utility, Commercial, and Industrial Electrical Projects.

Our team is currently is seeking a skilled and motivated Relay Technician to support our Transmission and Distribution substation operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in power system protection, testing, and maintenance of substation relaying equipment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring system reliability, safety, and compliance with operational standards.

Preferability located in the Binghamton, Elmira, Ithaca, or surrounding areas.

The salary range for this position is dependent on experience level ranging from Foreman to General Foreman Electrical Union Rate.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct testing and routine maintenance of substation relaying (electro-mechanical, solid state, and microprocessor types), control systems, and voltage regulation equipment.
  • Calibrate protective relays and apply relay settings according to standards and operational requirements.
  • Program Load Tap Changing (LTC) and voltage regulator controllers.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs on substation relays and control devices within distribution substations.
  • Plan and execute testing activities efficiently, adhering to schedules while ensuring service continuity.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of testing procedures, results, and equipment configurations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes.
  • Knowledge of 3-phase power systems, power system protection & control schemes, test equipment, and test equipment software.
  • Skills in test equipment and tool/wiring usage, interpretation of wiring and elementary diagrams, basic test skills, and basic PC skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment.
  • Education: Bachelor of Electrical Technology (BET) or Associate of Electrical Technology (AET).

Desirable Qualities:

  • Experience in SCADA, Fault Data, Sequence of Events Recorder (SER), and Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing.

Job Summary: Matco Electric is currently looking for an Electrical Estimator-Project Manager to join their growing team. Their ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of electrical experience. In office work. Location; Vestal NY, Ithaca NY, Elmira NY

The salary range for this position is dependent on experience level ranging from $50,000.00 to 85,000.00

Requirements:

  • 3-7+ years of electrical construction project management and/or estimating experience, or field equivalent experience.
  • A four-year degree in Construction Management or a tradecraft certification.
  • Experience estimating and managing industrial/commercial projects of $1 Million or greater.
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization, customers, contractors, and other business partners.
  • Experience using project manager software.
  • Experience with electrical estimating software, preferably Accubid.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Scheduling experience preferred.
  • Experience managing various project sizes ranging from service and maintenance to large multi-disciplined turnkey projects preferred.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks efficiently while consistently meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with clients and contractors during pre- and post-tender applications to develop effective business relationships.
  • Work with electrical drawings and blueprints.
  • Work independently to interpret customer bid requirements to assemble detailed and complete labor, material, equipment, and expense summaries for review and closing.
  • Manage administrative and direct labor work while managing projects.
  • Conduct cost analysis at the completion of the project.
  • Ensure quality construction standards are followed.
  • Monitor and lead compliance with building and safety regulations.
  • Collect and analyze all project costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment, and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate.
  • Estimate costs for engineering projects based on an analysis of project technical requirements.

Our team is currently is seeking a Senior Field Testing Technician  to support our testing of power transmission, and distribution equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in power system protection, testing, and maintenance of electrical distribution equipment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring system reliability, safety, and compliance with operational standards.

The salary range for this position is dependent on experience level ranging from Foreman to General Foreman Electrical Union Rate.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data of low, medium and/ or high voltage (to 500kV) electrical systems.
  • Low, Medium and/ or High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing
  • Perform inspection, maintenance, testing and repair of transformers, circuit breakers and all related equipment – 15 KVA to 130 MVA, dry type and/ or oil filled.
  • Perform maintenance, testing, reconditioning and repair on circuit breakers – low voltage 480 volt (molded case and air-magnetic) medium voltage up to 15 KV (air-magnetic and vacuum)
  • Test and inspect low and medium voltage cable installations.
  • Experience operating high voltage test equipment including Doble Power Factor test sets.
  • Perform start-up, troubleshooting and repair services on controls and transfer schemes.
  • Rotate emergency on-call duty and if called respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.
  • All work and decisions shall be conducted in strict compliance of all regulatory laws.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED and minimum 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • NETA Level III Certification or Equivalent Certification
  • Senior Field-Testing Tech will perform testing and service work and can mentor, lead other Technicians as directed by Management. This position is responsible for performance and management of routine and moderately complex tasks and projects, record keeping, evaluation of test data, and responsibility for the safety of others. This position is qualified to provide guidance and can perform electrical power switching.
  • Prefer experience with most of the following or similar: MCC’s, Breakers, relay testing, oil testing, infrared scanning, performing start-up on switchgear up through 500kV class.
  • Knowledge of various industry standards such as: NETA, NEC, OSHA and NFPA.
  • Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
  • Good theoretical understanding of electricity and a good aptitude for problem solving.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and peers.
  • Dependable and responsible with good judgment and organizational skills.
  • Good customer service, time management and follow-up skills.
  • Work effectively with customers, peers and management to resolve client issues.
  • Ability to complete on-site job reports.
  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office- use of Internet for standards/products/manufacturer research
  • For positions that utilize a company vehicle, will be required to have a valid driver’s license.
